Hazel Niemi

Hazel is a sweet, beautiful 7 year old golden who came to us in late August with a tummy ache.  Radiographs revealed a very large mass in her abdomen.  Not knowing exactly where the tumor was originating, Dr. Halstead felt Hazel's only option for survival was exploratory surgery.  Luckily, her owners were game for anything that could possibly save her life. Inside Hazel was a large 7 pound mass that luckily was attached to her spleen.  Because we can live without our spleen, Dr Halstead (with a little sweat) was able to remove the mass with the spleen.  After a few days of recovery in the hospital, Hazel felt like a new dog!  Luckily lab results on the mass revealed it to be benign (not cancerous).  Hazel returned earlier this month for her annual wellness exam and vaccines with little more than a shaved belly and arm to indicate what she went through.
